چکیده

Rhamnolipid as a potent natural biosurfactant has a wide range of potential applications, including enhanced oil recovery, biodegradation, and bioremediation. Observation of tensio-active indicated that biosurfactants were produced by the newly isolated and promising strain Pseudomonas putida. The biosurfactants were identified as rhamnolipids, the amphiphilic surfaceactive glycolipids usually secreted by Pseudomonas sp. In addition, the ability to generate rhamnolipids by placement of the right microbes might help overcome rhamnolipid adsorption during flow through reservoir rocks and the resultant degradation that would decrease the rhamnolipid concentrations. Their production was observed when the strain was grown on soluble substrates, such as glucose or on poorly soluble substrates. Maximum value 1.13 mg/ ml was occurred on the second day. Production of biosurfactants depends on the nutrient media. The surface tension was decreased with increasing time and growth.

Biofilm as a production platform for heterologous production of rhamnolipids by the non-pathogenic strain Pseudomonas putida KT2440

BACKGROUND Although a transition toward sustainable production of chemicals is needed, the physiochemical properties of certain biochemicals such as biosurfactants make them challenging to produce in conventional bioreactor systems. Alternative production platforms such as surface-attached biofilm populations could potentially overcome these challenges. Rhamnolipids are a group of biosurfactant...

Growth independent rhamnolipid production from glucose using the non-pathogenic Pseudomonas putida KT2440

BACKGROUND Rhamnolipids are potent biosurfactants with high potential for industrial applications. However, rhamnolipids are currently produced with the opportunistic pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa during growth on hydrophobic substrates such as plant oils. The heterologous production of rhamnolipids entails two essential advantages: Disconnecting the rhamnolipid biosynthesis from the complex ...

Designer rhamnolipids by reduction of congener diversity: production and characterization

BACKGROUND Rhamnolipids are biosurfactants featuring surface-active properties that render them suitable for a broad range of industrial applications. These properties include their emulsification and foaming capacity, critical micelle concentration, and ability to lower surface tension. Further, aspects like biocompatibility and environmental friendliness are becoming increasingly important. R...

Improved Production of Rhamnolipids by a Pseudomonas aeruginosa Mutant

A Pseudomonas aeruginosa mutant derived by random mutagenesis with N-methyl-N¢-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine, producing high levels of the rhamnolipid biosurfactants was selected on Siegmund-Wagner (SW) plates. The mutant designated P. aeruginosa PTCC1637 produces rhamnolipids at concentrations 10 time more than parent strain. NMR analysis and surface tension measurement showed that the biosurfactan...
